There are a number of things that could be so the isolated photo isn’t much help. Please provide information about what it came from including make/model, sharp, well lit photos of the PCB, and a schematic if you have one.

Looks like a piece of shrapnel.

 

That is a small section of flexible metallic conduit with a bushing on each end.

Actually, it‘s clearly an SMT device in a package similar to some diodes, with a third terminal (center). You can see the PCB trace that was pulled from the board when it was removed.

My first impulse was some kind of choke, or a protection device. But I haven’t seen that package before. It is very distinctive and people who use them would probably recognize it in an instant.
