Mr Chips
Found this forum as I was trying to find a solution for small fridge based on the FX-101, FX-102 controller. There are 2 controllers. Symptoms are that it doesn't see to power up, and the display stays unlit. Read the comments about replacing the C8 capacitor and will add that to the list. The C8 capacitor doesn't look swollen. On the upper controller, the fuse is black. I assume that means it is blown? I am still browsing the longer thread for tips

replaced the C8 capacitors on both boards and the blown fuse on the upper controller. Plugged it back in. Bottom controller fan starts up but dies after 10-15sec. Top one doesn't do anything and the fuse I replaced is blown again. Started lookign at the Peltier units? what is the size of the peltier. Right now they both show inf resistance.Would that mean the peltiers are dead?

replaced the blown fuse. Unplugged both peltiers. Bottom unit powers and red led lights up and stays on. Nothing on the top unit.

It could, but I suspect there might be something else. A normal peltier will be roughly 1-2Ω.
Some units have a high-temperature cutout to protect the peltier (and prevent a fire, I suppose). So for instance if the fan fails, the hot side of the peltier will get too hot and it makes sense to shut it down.

I had a failed fan in my unit. You may want to see if yours are spinning freely.

It was C8 for me, no LCD, no fans spinning, a weird hum and slight smell when powered.

Voltage to fan on heat sink was 1.5VDC. Replaced C8 with Macgyver temporary fix (4 10uF caps in parallel on a breadboard soldered in to C8 terminals on the PCB) and all worked well. Waiting on new 47uF capacitor for permanent fix. There was no visual indication of this failure for mine.

Running at a cool 52F now and girlfriend is happy she can have cold spirits!
