Referee RF Mic inline Switch

I've been trying to put an inline on/off switch for a football referee wireless mic. The mic itself is an electret mic which receives power from the bodypack transmitter. The switch i am using is a DPST rocker.
The power AND audio both travel down the same wire and connects to pin 1 of a mini XLR. Pin3 contains gnd, pin 2 is blank.
I have looped the power/audio line directly through the body pack to the mic to maintain constant power to the mic. From that same line I am running to the switch, A1 side, through a 10mf electrolydic capacitor. The gnd goes to the A2 side with a 10K bleeder resistor between the A1 & A2 poles.
It should mute the mic audio but it does not mute it completely, there's audio bleeding through when in the off position. There's also a small pop I can see on the oscilloscope, roughly negative 20mv. It doesn't always pop. The biggest problem has been the leaking audio, its about 70dB down from the on position but it is there and never 100% completely mutes. It can't be heard in the PA but it is heard on the broadcast.

Second try, ran the mic directly through A1 and the output through A2 to the transmitter. Completely kills the audio in the off position but I'm getting a larger pop, plus and minus voltage swing.
I've tried a .1mfd cap in series with the input but get the same pop.
Looking for some other ideas for this simple fix that's become not so simple.
Appreciate any input.
Best regards,
Doug
