Sorry it was a 155 SMD. That is 1.5 uF correct? It was popped and in the picture it is located just right of center and just below the centerline marked 155
Sorry it was Temic U211B but I don't think that matters. They were bought by Atmel in the late 90's.
Is there anything in particular I am looking for. What makes you say it is wrong?
On it. Pretty sure I put the new cap on the same way the old one came off. If I am checking it for polarity, which lead am I placing where and what is my reference? Still pin 2 with common lead?
Okay with the negative lead on the banded side of the cap and the positive lead opposite, I get -8.95 VDC when it starts up and runs.
Footnote: I had to guess at the value of this cap and went from the leftover piece of it and the existing one on the board. Not even sure if it is the right one nor how to figure out what it should be.
Hey Dodgy, sorry about that. R!f@@ and I switched over to the old thread to keep it simple. We determined that the cap I replaced had been put in backwards even though I installed it the same way as the old one. This would be a 1.5 uF cap. I measured -8.95 vDC across it while running and he said that was wrong. Makes sense.
If you want to jump in and catch up, go to the other thread and maybe this one will get shut down. Thank you for your help so far.
