Hi.
I'm trying get to diagnose an issue with my rc boat. After it gets about 3ft away it losses signal.
I have attached a picture of the reciever control. Can anyone tell me what the gold coloured component is underneath the crystal next to where it says AN. The Ariel wire is soldered to each side of it.
Any ideas on anything to check or would that would suddenly have no range.
Thanks peter

Thanks for that, any ideas why it's in the middle of my Ariel wire?.
I'm guessing that isn't affecting the range.
Don't. Know what else to check now.
Thanks

If it is connected between the aerial and the receiver then it is simply a coupling capacitor.
Do other receivers respond correctly to that transmitter (i.e. it might be the transmitter that is the problem)?

There still a short piece of Ariel wire, then the gold part then another length of antenna wire which then connects to the Base of the whip Ariel.

It responds correctly when I'm right next to. But if I move a couple of feet away it looses signal.
I tested the radio on radio scanner and it was putting out a good solid signal. So it must be the reciever end.
