A long time friend of mine, AAC member RichardO, passed away of an apparent heart attack a couple weeks ago. I've held off posting a notice on AAC until we were pretty sure that all of his friends and relatives had been notified properly.

In addition to an extensive and practical knowledge of electronics that he was always eager and willing to share, Richard was an avid bicyclist his entire life. Each year he and some friends would do their annual ColorRide where they would ride up and down some of the mountain passes here in Colorado to see the changing colors. It is my understanding that this is what they were doing when Rich passed away. All indications are that he passed quickly and how fortunate he was to pass doing something he so passionately loved.

I met Rich in the late 1980's and my life has been much the richer for it. He leaves behind a great many friends who loved and respected him immensely.

He will be missed.

Darn! that piece of news hurt .... I had a few interactions with Rich in this forum, and he was always kind and willing to help others. May God grant his family and friends the strength and wisdom necessary to pass through this very sad time. Rest in peace, RichardO.
Ditto here. He was always just a real pleasant person.

Very sorry to hear it!
Often regular member's of a forum suddenly stop posting and often the reason is unknown, there have been a few in the forums I frequent and it is only when someone has a personal contact that the facts are known.
Otherwise it leaves a hole and a puzzle.
Max.

Richard and I were immediate friends when I met him sometime around 2014. Our mutual love for high speed analog devices, tektronix oscilloscopes, and Linear Tech app notes (particularly Jim Williams) resulted in an instant friendship. He and I have conversed multiple times on the difficulties of each others projects both in person and on the forums. His "high-frequency" oscillator was a lot of fun to watch him work on - although my encouragement to put it on a pcb always fell on deaf ears!

I'm glad to hear that he was with friends and riding his bike when he passed.

I'll miss the hell out of him and his friendly smile.

God Speed, RichardO!
