tajifitz.......I suggest a wireless webcam with mic.

Make sure you are seen installing it. Make sure the cam can be easily seen from target area, even at night.....i.e. not in dark shadow.

When groups form......rotate it occasionally to be more obnoxious.

When inquiries are made.....the reason is, that you are tired of going to the door every fives minutes to see what the commotion is.

No one likes to be watched and recorded.

I can't believe what I'm hearing about Frank. Tell me it ain't so.

Who is Michael Bubble?

There are at least two studies showing that people do, on some level, perceive sounds that they can't hear.

I don't know about the 22kHz idea specifically, but the mere fact that people can't hear it in the traditional sense doesn't mean it won't have an effect.

Having said that, I'm not so sure about this idea in terms of what it says about society, how the dogs will handle it, whether there are potential health risks for any/all involved, etc.

I was kind of looking forward to the next chapter in this saga - I love the torment, the thought processes and the response (intended and un-intended). Most interesting would be the retaliation if the OP's actions are discovered. Do they go for smarter response, brute force response, or legal actions?

I'm having a problem with people hanging out in the vicinity of my home front entry stoop. Looking to cause them subtle discomfort and thus to avoid loitering.
OK, I have a few suggestions. Front stoop? Haven't heard the term stoop since growing up in Brooklyn.

When I want to discourage people from hanging out around my area I just sit out and spend time cleaning a gun. Now obviously I can't be out there 24/7 cleaning guns so I have option #2. Are you any good with making models? You make a model of a claymore mine, maybe two. Make them look like this:

Note the LED which is not on a real claymore mine but they won't know that. Build in your own LED and an oscillator so it can be transmitted to so it will blink. If you don't want to get fancy just rig the thing so it blinks, omit the keyfob transmitter. Make a few. The blinking LED will call attention to them.

That would be my suggestion as you want to send a message. :)

To the OP. I feel for you. I have the same issue. My neighbor does not work and hangs out all day in front of his unit and drinks. When the neighbors come home he invites them over for a drink. I can have 6-10 people in my front yard drinking. I have no privacy plus people hanging out drinking in front of my home can't be good for property values.

I posted pretty much the same question as you. I think the problem with inaudible sound used to make people uncomfortable is the level would need to be fairly high.

Low tech solutions I have though of was to hide a fish in his front yard or pour deer scent all around where they hang out.

My sympathies, tajifitz, especially for all the tmi you've been presented in response to a very technical question. I hope that once your device is up and working we might hear how well it works--and I can understand if you don't choose to elaborate.
