Thanks for all the help guys.
I am about to purchase The PIC, Board and necessary components for this.
I was going to get a mikroc Dev board as im using mikroc at university this year.
However im not sure what would be best (and cheapest) for my application.
http://www.mikroe.com/pic/development-boards/
This is the list.
I would like to have all the components required on the board, so i can purchase the PIC and the sensors/heater and then hook it up without the need for external oscillators etc.
Thanks

Unless you want to spend $100+ for the board, the choice is obvious :)

Your task is very simple and nearly any PIC will do.
Not so obvious to me.
I dont want to use mikroC however i will be using it for my final year project at university. so i shall buy something that is compatible.

With this cleared up. Can i please get a suggestion haha

For your project you don't need anything more than this one:

http://www.mikroe.com/ready/pic-dip28/

Even that one is too much.

You can also put your bourad a box, so you have a very nice device afterwards.

If you want to do lots of other work, such as experiment with displays etc., then you may find others to be better.

Disclaimer: I don't use Microe C myself.

like i said, i dont want to.
However given i NEED to for my degree, it would be stupid to learn something else at the moment.

I like overkill, it means i can expand.
I think i will go for the one you suggested and get a 7 segment or cheap screen.
Thanks alot!
