Quartz Wall Clock Striking Circuit malfunction.

In a Quartz Wall Clock (Ajanta) the musical striking unit is malfunctioning. It is producing the musical chime every hour, but not producing the striking sound. It is COB based. Obviously, both musical chime and striking sound are prerecorded together in the COB. Then how can it miss only the striking sound? The Striking unit is having 3 volts power supply. It is having three inputs: one signal input from the Quartz Controlled Clock Mechanism, second from a light sensor (to silent the sound at night), third from the on/off-cum-volume control. The single output goes to an 8 ohm speaker. (Total wires connected are 10). Can anybody put some light on this?

First guess - make the connections to the light sensor are intact.
Thank you for the immediate response, However, light sensor may not be the cause, I suppose, because, as already stated the recorded music is played but only Hours' Striking sound is missing! And this problem is repeated every hour. Moreover, I have already checked all the connections.
