PWM 2-6khz for ebmpapst motor

At the motor requires 24 volts can I get the controller 12 and the motor 24 and it will work? This is what's confusing me right now.

Yes. The controller board needs a supply for it's circuit, 12V will do nicely. The controller is designed to use a separate supply for the motor which can be up to 35V.

It was cheap enough so I bought both to try. I was just wondering how I'm going to set the 6khz I need. I don't have a meter that goes that high. Mine is only for 60hz. Not sure if it goes higher. Is there a cheap device I can hook up to test it?

If you don't have a frequency meter then you can using a poor man method to test the frequency, if you have the 60hz meter then you can do as:
Voltage divider → CD4040(with 20 pins dip switch) → your Meter.
Th voltage divider was used to divide the voltage to match your meter could afford it.
The CD4040 can be works up to 20V, you can provide it as 5V~12V.

I don't want to fool around with a method I don't understand. Poor man method seems never complicated and ill have to buy some components anyways.

An ee tool is the very important thing for experiment, the poor man method is for the people who don't want to spend more money to buy the tool or the frequency is too high exceed the meter you have can measure it, and then you can buy the ic 74HC4040 or 74HC390 then the measurment frequency will be more higher at least 10 times of your meter, probably you will need it someday if you continuing to play in ee.

I have had the similar meter as the one in your linked page, but it seems there were no frequency measurement function and square wave generator.

The help here has been invaluable to me. Thank you.

I would like to use the tach output. 3 pulses per revolution I believe it said. I've been looking but can't find something premade to read this that has a display.

A rev counter for a 6 cylinder car would give the right scaling. It should be possible to arrange an interface between the tach and the rev counter.

Hello. I finally received 1 of the two own controllers that I ordered. It's the second one we were talking about but I think it's fried out of the box. I bought a frequency tester and then I hook this up and adjust the Hz pot and the duty cycle pot im not getting a huge change. It's the tl494 chip on it but it says it's adjustable up to 100000khz. I'm only seeing 2400hz and it doesn't appear to change more that 100hz or so.
