I am considering buying the Xantrex Grid tie 5.0 inverter

Here i see that there is a row which says Line Power Factor (Above 20% rated power) and all of them seem to achieve pf of 0.99 or above
In this context, i have a couple of questions
1. How can they predict 0.99 when they dont know the nature of loads(inductive or how inductive/capacitive) that would be connected
2. There are also some pfc correctors in the market htat you can plug it into a socket and the pf would be corrected, how do those work ?
