i would like your help in choosing a reference input clock for the HMC788 pll.
I am a student who use this pll for a project but i don't understand what reference clock to choose.
i know there are a lot of format for clocks and i am getting confuse about which format is suitable in this pll( which for some reason i can't find in the data sheet).
i am interested at generating a sinusoidal wave at the output at 10.5 GHZ.
My instructor told me to look for TXCO (i honestly don't know why he insisted on TCXO, if you have other suggestions they are welcome as well, i.e, VCXO).
i searched for the best TXCO in terms of phase noise and temperature stability and found the TX-801 by MicroSemi which can give an output format of CMOS and Clipped Sine Wave Output.
i have read in analog devices forums that another person asked this question and the answer he got was a recommendation to use CVHD-950 by crystek.
CVHD-950 does get a better phase noise performance than TX-801 but CVHD-950 is a VCXO.
i am adding the files of all the components i mentioned in this post, and would appreciate if you could inform me on your recommendation as to what XO to choose.
