Please Help Me Someone

I am trying to instal some LED lights on some speakers i have and i want to power them off the speakers so they flash to the music.. but i tried it and it blew them out(well there was a bright yellow flash and they didnt work anymore) so if anyone knows how i can put a fuse in or something so that it will work please let me know! email me at cybercoolperson13@hotmail.com. thank you

Did you include a series current limiting resistor in line with the LED? If so, what value of resistance did you use?

The audio to the speakers is AC, you need an appropriate blocking diode in series with the LED along with a ballast resistor.

Somethin' like this:

(+) ----|>|-------RES-----|>|----- (-)
____ 1N4002_ ~470 ohm __LED
