My wife's brand new Samsung S8 is finally here, and she's absolutely thrilled with its camera.

There's a certain sense of contemplation in this picture of a fly atop one of my grills... wifey certainly has an eye for composition and timing...

I took this photo with my Galaxy S6 Active a few months back. It's a woodworking project I left out overnight and it collected dew. I thought it looked pretty cool and I was impressed with how the camera captured it.

Nice!... you could crop the lower side of the pic, and then rotate it 90* ... it would make for a good desktop background.

Tell her not to drop it!

One of the things I like to do is tape a magnifying lens to my phone for very close-up macros. A 10x loupe lens works great.

Or, you can just buy a kit:

The last phone I bought was the S4 Active. After a couple years it stopped taking a charge, so for $50 deductible I had it replaced. They sent me a s6 Active, which is the version that is supposed to be waterproof and drop proof. I ordered an otter box for it regardless, but it didn't come until 2 days after I got the phone. in those 2 days I managed to drop it 2ft from my night stand onto tile floor and shattered the screen. $50 deductible again and they sent me another phone but canceled my insurance. Their "shatter proof" technology is bogus. good phone though.

This was my story, in case you missed it.

Hello,

Keep in mind that pictures on this site are reduced to max 1280 X 1280 to reduce bandwith.
If you want to post full size images you could zip the image.

My first impression when seeing that photo – and keep in mind that I've had a glass of gin and I'm not wearing my reading glasses – was "alligator". Maybe a side-by-side would be interesting.

Wow, apparently it lets me upload the full res pic, 5.9mb. And I zoomed in on it for the very first time. Even more impressive.

There you go, Strantor... I did a few adjustments, and resized the picture to a perfect 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. Now I have a brand new, beautiful desktop background thanks to you... Many thanks :)

EDIT: AAC seems to have resized the image I posted. So here's a zip containing the original.

Took a short drive down the river on the
Columbia River Highway

OK that is it. Next year's bicycle tour is the Columbia River Gorge. Plans are to start in Portland and I hope the Empire Builder is still running because it stops along the river somewhere. Then take it to Whistler for a couple of days, then on to who knows where then home. I will be taking the Empire Builder from Seattle this year so I will figure out where I will want to stop. ;)
