A few shots from today.

Government camp rest-stop

Up the mountain road.
And here you hate me because I posted from Los Cabos... have you any idea what I would give to hike up a snowy mountain on a beautiful afternoon like that?

Nice to see you know how to enjoy life. Cheers!

Suddenly, our friend from Mexico thinks he is Henry Pittock.

Well, I don't really hate you. I only hate the fact I wasn't there too. I'm planning next years trips with my yearly vacation budget. Vegas for the birthday in July is nailed down but the winter trip to someplace tropical and warm is open. One of my friends from work is headed to Vietnam with his family next winter. I told his wife I would be his chaperon if she could convince my wife to let me travel alone on that trip. ;)

Yeah, we drove up to the lodge but the only few open parking spots in front of the hotel were covered in several feet of snow. We decided to drive back down to the Government Camp rest area instead. Super nice day.

What's that dog sniffing? ;)

I had to google that one to understand what you were talking about.
I said hike up the mountain, not conquer it! And also, I meant on a beautiful afternoon, not during a blizzard or something worse.

You are not alone. He probably read about Pittock in grade school for a paragraph or two. The more I get to know gopher the more I suspect he has an eidetic memory. He is pretty amazing.

I wonder if Pittock made it back east? There is a small town here, along the shore of the Ohio River called Pittock. Of course that could also be a slur of Pitt's Rocks since William Pitt , since he pretty much founded Pittsburgh.

What about the beauty of the snowy Oregon mountains with the warmth of Monterrey. That would be paradise! :)
