I am trying to download programs to a Picaxe 08m from a Mac Intel. The board seems to have a mind of its own, sometimes accepting the code but usually can't open the port. Is there a cure for this?

 

are you using a starter kit or a self built board? From what i know you need 2 resistors on serin pin and they have to stay in the board at all time.
