I am planning to use a PCM1742 stereo DAC with a Cortex M7 processor. I see the connections for I2S... LRCK, BCK, and Data as inputs to the DAC and am scratching my head wondering how these pins are used. Are they similar to SPI? I understand LRCK is basically a word select between right and left channels and BCK I assume is like the clock used when doing SPI? Can you use an SPI port to control I2S? Any information or explination on how one would control the PCM with a processor like this would be very helpful.
