I interfaced LPC2114 with PCF8574.
From the data sheet The I/Os should be HIGH before being used as inputs.
How to make PCF8574 as the Input port to read the external inputs.

Read page 12 of the data sheet again.

 

From the data sheet 0=Write,1=Read

if i write Startbit+Slave Address+0 then the Port become output port

if i write Startbit+Slave Address+1 then the Port become input port
