Anybody got good proven design schematics?

 

I'd like to find a solid state equivalent to a geiger tube myself. I have some other projects I'd like to try out sometime.

 

I have several I got at a surplus sale a while ago. No ticking here.

If somebody gets a GC with a messed up adjustment that causes a very high count, watch out for heavy traffic over the Sierras! Without a cal sticker, you have no idea of what and how much you are registering. The window in the tube can be transparent to only gammas, or let you count alphas.

I tell you what! If I turned one on and it started "talking" I would be rather alarmed at first. Especially if there were no test sample around.

Calibration would likely be the culprit, but I am expecting the worst.
