Our outdoor product development team is looking for someone to provide very low-level, embedded C software development for next generation outdoor products, including using SPI, I2C, UART and other interfaces on bare metal 8 and 32 bit processors.

Important Note: Due to the nature of our products, contact with dogs and products that have been in contact with dogs is common/ frequent

In this role you will be responsible for creating and executing designs for small sets of new functionality as part of a software project. Other essential functions include:

  • Creates and executes designs for small sets of new functionality as part of a software project
  • May perform as a technical leader or Lead Software Engineer for derivative software project
  • Collaborates and adds value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions
  • Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
  • Performs technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for given problems
  • Contributes to technical research on new technologies
  • Estimate level of effort, evaluate new options of similar technology, offer suggestions to improve processes, and provide comments on some electrical design aspects
Qualifications
Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering Aerospace Engineering, Math or Physics or a technical field (such as CIS or IT) relevant to the essential functions of this job description from a four-year college or university AND 2 years of current work experience. Other requirements include:

Demonstrates proficient knowledge and utilization of engineering tools necessary for successful performance of the essential functions of this job description

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of current C level programming
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of current low-level embedded system experience (non-Linux)
  • Experience performing maintenance activities for products already in production and troubleshoot issue reports, reproduce issues, perform technical root cause analysis and outline corrective action, and implement and test software solutions.
  • Proficient knowledge and utilization of engineering tools plus proficiency and experience necessary to develop moderately complex software in C, or other selected language are a must. Mastery of relevant software engineering tools (configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators and logic analyzers) and proficient ability to capture and document software requirements are additional requirements.
