Coming off my battery mower, my guess is it's some sort of tilt/safety sensor. Any help is much appreciated.

 

Are there any visible markings on the part? Could you please post a pic of the underside of the board?

I don't think so, the component has symbols of a diode and a transistor on it, no IR led. Plus lawn mower hasn't got a remote and this board is under the front cover

 

What is the brand and model of the mower?

 

I wonder if it is some sensor to detect rotation of the blades, motor or something similar. A better picture of the printing on the device would help, as well as a picture of the bottom of the board. Where is it located relative to the motor?
