What are the reasons to put multiple Vcc and multiple ground pins on a digital IC. Will there be the same for analog ICs also???

Thanks in advance.

For clean power distribution.

My i7 920 processor for example has approx 200 Vcc and 200 ground pins to distribute the power throughout the core. When you consider that modern processors need several tens of amps it's understandable.

Analog IC's typically don't require that much current so you seldom see multiple power or ground pins with them. The exceptions are certain analog chips that also have a digital or high power output, such as A/D converters. They may have pins for both analog and digital power and ground to help separate the noisy digital power from the (hopefully) quieter analog power.
