Lua New to me, I have been using an application that used C & VB/VS for add ons, the new version evidently is programmed in Lua.
Is there a direct conversion for programs or do they have to be completely re-written?

Pretty sure there are no utilities to convert C or VB to Lua. You'll just have to do it manually. I find it odd that the developers would suddenly change their add-on support languages so abruptly... are you sure they don't support the previous add-on languages any longer? What application are you referring to?

CNC motion S/W, Mach3 VB, Mach4 Lua.
The dll plug-ins are no longer compatible.

That's lame. Hopefully converting your code won't be too painful.

 

I can't really confirm how well this works since I haven't tried, but it looks like Lua has an API that can interact somewhat with some C functions: http://www.lua.org/pil/24.html

Might make the code transition smoother... :-/
