Modulating a cw PA stage.

Hi, Can a simple cw transmitter be modulated with audio to produce AM by applying audio to the collector and or would the base bias have to be modified from class C?

I have enclosed an example of a simple transmitter I might build and test this. This circuit is from the classic book Solid State Design FOR THE RADIO AMATEUR.
