It could be any of dozens of different microcontroller brands and each manufacturer offers downs to hundreds of individual devices. Then each Microcontroller can be programmed to do just about anything with hundreds to a hundred-thousand lines of programming code.

Well, I do not want to open my ESC ofcourse !

So, what are you hoping to do with your ESC?

I want to use it for some simple RC project( I am a beginner). But I guess you got a point. It could be any of the microcontrollers available. Thanks!

Can you please give me the name of any common microcontroller used in ESCs ? I have searched for it thoughout the internet but all in vain.

 

Go to the Picmicro site and search 'Sensorless BLDC'.
For typical RC use, only one direction is required, as the motor leads are swapped to obtain the other dir.
Also Google DIY ESC for RC

ATTINY25 from Microchip is specifically designed for that kind of use (includes deadtime in the complimentary PWM outputs).

 

I don't think I would bother trying to build when they can be had for $10-$20.
