In the beginning was equations and the equations were with Math and the equations were Math and was in the beginning with Math when all formulas were made and without Math was not anything formulated that was formulated.

And all those who study; will have ever lasting test scores. So say'eth Math.

e.g. And all those who believe in studying shall not be corrected by "WBahn"

I wonder Maths ten commandments are? hehe

  • You shall have no other Math before Me.
  • You shall not make false formulas.
  • You shall not take the name of Math in vain.
  • Remember your Study days, to keep them holy.
  • Honor your equations and formulas.
  • You shall "not" erase numbers.
  • You shall "not" commit mixed equations.
  • You shall "not" steal numbers.
  • Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors Infinity. :p
  • "Thou shalt not place a zero atop another to make 8"

kv

Interesting being I have been doing engineering work all my life and I have never found an instance where a problem could not be broken down into a formula or groups of formulas that only used real numbers but then I only deal with real life problems too.

I guess I just sort of developed my own mathematical way around my algebraic dyslexia so could solve more complex problems in my head.:p

The only rule I stick to is 'Thou shalt not use thy alphabet and proclaim it math.'
We have a misunderstanding. You can't start with, for instance:
8 = the length of those two ropes, I must now find 8
Rope 1 is 12 feet long and rope 2 is 19 feet long, so 8 must be 31 feet
More likely you start with, "the length of those two ropes is 12 feet plus 19 feet".
Rope 1 + rope 2 = 31 feet.

Look, pieces of alphabet all over the place.
My point is, you can't start an equation without anything to represent the unknown quantity. Even if you want, "doughnut" to equal the length of 2 ropes, you still have to spell, "doughnut".
What are you talking about???

You're talking about a word problems. I like those and am pretty good them most of the time provided they are in reference to a real life plausible scenario and use real actual numbers. ;)

No, he's saying that there's no difference between saying "Rope 1"/"Rope 2" and saying "X"/"Y". In fact, the latter is shorter and more concise.
