I recently upgraded my computer from XP to Windows 7. Now when I run LT Spice and try to save a schematic to the default location LT Spice informs me that I do not have permission. I can save it elsewhere but not in the default locale. The program tells me to contact the administrator. How do I tell the program that I am the administrator?

You are supposed to know what to do, if you are the administrator. So telling the program won't help; it already knows.

Make an LTSpice folder in your My Documents library. Then, use "save as" to save your files in that location.

It is also possible to give your account specific permission to write to the default folder, but I can't do it here as I no longer have a Win7 machine to test and develop a procedure for you.

 

Win10 here. I got round that issue by installing LTspice in a User directory rather than in the default one.
