Hi Guys.
I`m looking for a way to limit inrush current on 180v DC motor and make it to soft start. The motor is capable of spinning 5600 rpm, and when started, generates to much inrush current.
Plenty of referecene online however they all maxed out to 24v aplications.

any help is greatly appreciated.

What is the HP?
One way would be to pick up a surplus TM motor board, preffered versions are MC-60/80 and MC2100.
TM come up around here at least one a week for free PU. Not working.
If fairly low current, A used servo drive could do it.
More details on the application and motor would help.

 

0.75hp motor. The current board is BC2000.

Have you tried the accel adjustment in the drive?

 

aaaaaah, well spoted. I read this doc few times, but for some reason i missed that. At the moment the motor accelerates way to fast. I`ll try that acceel pot and let you know.
