I have an old Yamaha CA-600 amp on which one channel tends to crackel and pop.

My understanding is that its the relay (OMRON Type MX) that causes the problem. You can see a video of a repair of this type of relay here:

Mine is too damaged to be fixed as in this video, and I want to change it.

I read that this part is no longer available, but other models could work just the same. The problem is, I'm no expert and I'm not sure what part number to order. What type of relay would work? Where can I get that info?

Any 12V DPST relay rated at 10A contacts will do , as long as you can get it to fit in the original pinout, of not just rewire it and hot melt.

Yes, just bend the contacts over, or use a dpst.
