This is just a little something happening in my town for the last few months. We have a local celebrity deer... Last week he successfully managed to evade conservation officers and keep his head ornament despite the whole town tracking his movement.

“He seems to be feeding fine. He seems to be socializing fine with other deer,” Sgt. Tracy Walbauer of the Conservation Officer Service told CBC. “And he’ll lose his antlers. His antlers will fall off this winter… this is a temporary thing.”

The only issue is the less opened minded male deer are calling him some pretty nasty names. ;)

I'm sorry, but antlers falling off is a permanent thing. The antlers aren't going to jump back off of the forest floor and remount themselves on a deer's head. The deer will re-grow new antlers next season but the antlers that fell off are off (with or without a hammock on them).

I think the good Sgt meant the yarn in the antlers is a temporary thing.
