Hi All,

I am trying to understand a little more about these skills in a real world day to day task: Low and medium voltage power, easy power, load flow analysis, electrical engineering drawings and short circuit calculations.

These skills are from a job posting with 1 yr of exp or Masters - I am a senior BSEE and would like to understand better what would the day to day task can be:

For example: I know what electrical drawings are: But is it mean, I will be revising drawings, making new ones, editing existing one, Do I need know a certain software that is used in the industry?

for Load Flow analysis and Short Circuit calculations - My guess is that they are not perform manually and that there is a special software for that, But again I am not sure.

If someone can share their experience about these skills woul be appreciated

Thanks in advanced

Joejester - Thanks for the links

In case someone new to EE(Power) have the similar questions

I just find out through a class Electric Power Devices (Power Analysis I), that Powerwolrd software is used in the industry and we will be using it in class along with some short circuit calculations.

In likelihood these "skills" have been plucked out of thin air by a manager or HR department and are not actually required.
The problem with interviewing technical staff is interviews are rarely carried out by technical staff, most often by a manager media studies graduate who simply won't know how to assess your skills, they'll go online and search for the most complicated sounding "skills" he/she can find and then judge the candidate on their ability to talk a lot and sound like they know their stuff..... Which kinda sucks because they're effectively looking for a salesman personality in the type of person to whom BS does not really flow freely.
