I have never design this kind of electronics before. I need to design Back light for an LCD. It has 15 V forward voltage for each diode array and it needs to be limited to a current of 50 mA. The input voltage needs to be 15 Vs. Obviously I need LCD backlight boost switcher to make this happen. My own research led me to a MC34844AEP. Is this the right approach. I will be using manual mode on this. The data sheet says 50mA on default but it does not say anything about the voltage. Correct me if I am wrong as long as the Iset is correct it will give a current source of 50mA and it does not care about the voltage . If there is an easier approach I am open to that too.

Hello,

The MC34844 has a boost converter in the chip.
It will boost the voltage, so more leds can be driven:

What are the specs of the leds you want to use?

All I have is what is listed. 15 forward voltage, 3 strings, and they have a current rating of 50 mA each. The input voltage was known. I am more concerned cause this part puts out more on the output. I think you can set this by resistors on pin 6. I am looking into that.
