Σm(0,1,2,7)+Σd(4,8) How to show this expression in a Karnough map? What does the second sum(Σd) mean? Is that d mean dont care or something different?

I've never seen the notation, but "don't care" would seem to be a very good likelihood.

I have seen an expression as Σm(0,1,2,7)+Σd(1,8). What to do with m1? Both minterm and dont care?
It's probably a typo, so if possible ask for clarification. If that's not possible, since it's both the safest thing to do is treat is as a required minterm. Of course, if the solution assumes it's really a don't care, then you might get marked wrong -- but you've got a really strong case to challenge it.
