Edit: I’ll celebrate with a Peanut Butter and Onion Sandwich.
I do expect him to make 100.
Happy Birthday Jimmy.

However the drugs evolve, Carter, a longtime Sunday school teacher, has taught the public important lessons about new treatments and the hope they can provide, Gross said. More recently, he added, Carter has underscored the value of hospice by making public his decision about end-of-life care.
By sparking discussion on these critical issues, Gross said, Carter “has taught us so much,” including how he wants to spend his final days.

RIP Rosalynn Carter, former first lady, wife of President Jimmy Carter

She was the first presidential spouse to set up an office in the East Wing and hire a full staff. Many recalled Rosalynn Carter carrying a brief case filled with papers to the office every day.

She was a trusted adviser to the president, a participant in foreign and domestic affairs and often set up weekly meetings with Jimmy Carter in the Oval Office, Kate Anderson Brower, author of "First Women: The Grace and Power of America's Modern First Ladies," told USA Today in 2018.

Carter traveled the world, promoting her own platform of improving mental health care and her husband's position on human rights. She lobbied for the Equal Rights Amendment which granted legal gender equality to women and men.

This possibly doesn't bode well for Jimmy making it to 100. We've seen so many times that when two people are so tightly bonded for so long, that when one of them passes and there isn't anything really driving the other to go on, the other one passes not long thereafter. Certainly not always the case, but when it is, I can't decide if it's sad, or touching because of what it might say about just how strongly the two really were connected at the deepest level.

Sad to hear Jimmy lost Rosalynn. Also a bit surprised as they announced Jimmy was going into Hospice some time back and didn't think he had much time left. With Rosalynn gone...

My sincere condolences. No other American ex-president has done so much for so many outside of his own country in modern history.

Carter will go down in history as a positive influence. And his wife had a lot to do with that.

Rosalynn Carter honored by family, friends, first ladies and presidents, including husband Jimmy
Rosalynn Carter was remembered Tuesday as a former U.S. first lady who leveraged her fierce intellect and political power to put her deep Christian faith into action by always helping others, especially those who needed it most
It was Jimmy Carter’s first public appearance since he entered hospice care, other than a brief ride with Rosalynn in September’s Plains Peanut Festival parade, where they were visible only through the open windows of a Secret Service vehicle. He was with his wife during her final hours but did not appear publicly during earlier events at her alma mater, Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, and at his presidential library.

“He never wants to be very far from her,” Carter Center CEO Paige Alexander said. The trip to Atlanta was “hard” for the former president but “this is her last trip up and it’s probably his, too,” she added. “He’s determined.”
