just need to went a little... rant warning
interviewed another candidate today and it is appalling how poorly each and every one of them scores.
and all we ask are only the extremely basic questions and - what is on their own resumes...
they talk baloney like "i like using C++ to connect my gizmos with haptic sensors through Arduino to google API over WiFi and use keys wired in matrix to drive LED display..." and crap like that. on the surface it sounds good but they don't understand any of it... zip... nada... nothing... all they do is find some instructible, perhaps attempt to reproduce it (doubt they succeed even when all they need to do is breadboard and download ready program).
when asked what is byte: "it is group of bits, can vary, something like 48-64, it DEPENDS..."
when asked to apply basic circuit theory to just size resistor, he plugged any known variable into R=V/I and P=V*I which of course was way off. not to mention that he never mentioned units even though i kept on asking...
it is like i was was frozen and then woke up in the future (movie Idiocracy...).
i have no time or energy to teach them what they fail to learn in years of college...
clearly they go through schools and get degrees and honors for mere attendance...
obviously failing them would mean loss of paying customers and no revenue
