Infrared (IR) Obstacle Avoidance Sensor problem

We are having trouble using Infrared (IR) Obstacle Avoidance Sensor Module connected to an Arduino. The sensor module uses a LM393 Comparator, not sure of the reflectance sensors. It appears the halogen room lighting is the issue. I read that halogen lamp produces a continuous spectrum of light, from near ultraviolet too deep into the infrared. Any available options on replacing the IR module sensors and/or filter (either mechanical or electrically) the sensors. Thank you for your support and comments.

If you do not use a purpose designed IR sensor and modulated IR carrier transmitter, you will have problems with all sort of interference.

What are you using for your detector and transmitter?

The detector and transmitter are part of the module.
They can be replaced.
I am possibly looking for a replacement detector and transmitter which would not be in the HIGH inferred area.
Any suggestions

You might want to look for a TV remote control receiver module like the one below.

It contains an IR pass filter, a lens to narrow down the angle of the light that can affect it and in this case, electrical filters limit its temporal sensitivity is limited to a small bandpass, in this case at 38 kHz. It also contains automatic gain control so that in the presence of a large signal in the bandpass the overall signal gain is reduced. The transmitter is an IR LED being driven by a square wave from and I/O pin or an NE-555 based driver. These are cheap at well under $1 each. There are versions with electrical shielding that reduce sensitivity to electrical noise.

Dick
Thank you for your response. What is the full part number for the "TSAL62...." IR transmitter
I will or parts and build up a prototype.
