Are you here to constructively participate in a discussion or are you here to irritate others for your own satisfaction? You are boring me.
Just discussing how decisions and strategies of dealing with inflation and shortages may not help themselves, or their economy and may hurt the shops and manufactures in the supply chain. I'm sorry if my attempt to inform you that your decisions to help yourself may hurt others while not benefiting you bores you.

(Sorry if this comes off as political, it is not intended as such) The switch from a petrolium-based energy economy to an economy based on renewable energy sources needs to be driven by the markes in order to progress smoothly. Dictates by politicians won't do it because that is likely to be rooted in political popularism rather than a market need. Did we not see what happened last century when Russia (and then later China) operated with a "planned economy". Things did not work out as "planned". There is no rush to stop using oil, but some pressure in that direction will be helpful in preparing for the time when oil becomes expensive to extract.

Yeah, it is funny that California (a place I left more than 20 years ago because of this sort of problem) mandates electric cars but tells people not to charge them. Pretty good example of why the market should lead.

Baloney. Your 2¢ opinions bore me still more. You need to get to a position in which you rejoice in the joy of others rather than trying to degrade them for your own satisfaction. Try to make yourself an asset rather than an ***.

well, you may be bored but the topic of false shortages and hoarding of plentiful products with strong supply chains is a hot topic of economic study as people do autopsies of the American Toilet Paper Shortage spurred by Covid-19. Strong supply, steady real demand and yet, hoarding caused shortages, price spikes, wholesalers and retailers stuck with expensive inventory once everyone realized there will be enough toilet paper.
There are plenty of academic research papers -
Here is a summary from a professor I met several years ago...

If you want pasta, then you should use eggs.
Only when making your own at home. Dried pasta you buy at the store is just semolina flour and water.
" Ingredients:
SEMOLINA (WHEAT), DURUM WHEAT FLOUR. VITAMINS/MINERALS: VITAMIN B3 (NIACIN), IRON (FERROUS SULFATE), VITAMIN B1 (THIAMINE MONONITRATE), VITAMIN B2 (RIBOFLAVIN), FOLIC ACID."

Home made fresh pasta noodles most time have eggs. It is called fresh pasta to differentiate it from the dry pasta.

Can’t eat pasta without tomato sauce. Can’t have burgers either and I believe it’s an ingredient in BBQ sauce.
Naw, I also like pasta with a good white or alfredo sauce easily made at home. I do like to add fresh eggs and all you really need is good semolina flour, a few eggs, I prefer some sea salt and a bit of olive oil. I also like gnocchi which starts life as a potato and also goes well with a white sauce.

Thanks to the moderators for keeping us civil.

Yeah, I like pesto with my pasta but a good red sauce is my go to. I’ve had pesto and Alfredo based pizza but it’s not the same. Especially with my favorite Chicago pizza, Lou Malnatis. I’m sure the already high price will push up even more.
Not the end of the world but it will suck.

Let me tell you something about shortages.
We are short of common sense and condoms.

In a world of finite resources we are greedy creatures that actually believe we can grow and consume forever and that's just not the case

So we are greedy living creatures just like the rest of natures animals, shocking, shocking.

https://www.visionlearning.com/blog/2014/12/17/wolverines-give-insight-evolution-greed/
Greed is often defined as the intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food. Although we usually associate this unseemly characteristic to humans, it is readily apparent that animals can also be greedy. Many animals are gluttonous, territorial, and many don’t seem at all interested in sharing. The reason is also obvious: the more you have, the better you’ll do when it comes to surviving and reproducing.
...
These wolverines meet human definitions of greed because they take extra measures to harm the standing of competitors, or at least prevent them from being able to improve their own standing. No matter how much food may abound at that moment, wolverines consider every meal a zero-sum game. Out in the wild, there is no trophy for just participating and no silver medal for coming in second.

Wolverines know that wealth is relative, social standing is relative, and even access to food is relative. It’s great to be well-fed. It’s even better to be well-fed while others are starving.
Our human brains assist our greed, it doesn't eliminate it.

If you really believe this, the best action you can personally take to help humanity survive is to hold your breath for eight minutes.
