Hi everyone.
Could an IC like NCP101x (designed as a "Self-Supplied MonolithicSwitcher for Low Standby-Power Offline SMPS", like flybacks) be used to build a simple dc-dc boost converter? Let's say, 5 Vdc to 12 V, or 12 Vdc to 40 V.
Something like this ( not for PFC but as a voltage step-up regulator).

The reason is cost. I already have some of these, and all switching regulators I know of are much more expensive.
