If I use a laptop supply as you say, would that be AC or DC or doesn't that matter?
I have a transformer unused that powered a set of Cambridge audioworks PC speakers and that is 24V but don't think it's DC.
You did mention in an earlier post AC/DC power supply (that can accept 5V PWM dimming) but I'm not dimming as 700mA is lower than 750mA that leds are rated at.

I dont know why you insist LED vaporize from a voltage soure.

I have run 2x 20W white LED in series, using a laptop brick, and a booster PCB.

At 60 volts, you have a few volts headroom actually.

But its too messy to make lamps myself, I get a floodlight soon, 60 Watts, from China.
Not as cheap as powering LEDs myself and make coolers, but I dont want so many wires around, and a floodlight just looks better.

Thanks gentlemen, Mcgyver, it all makes sense now it did take a bit of time to sink in, I have a bit of trouble with equations thanks for your patience.
I found some s/hand heat sinks on ebay, and JUST AS YOU SAID £2.95 on ebay for the 700mAh LDD meanwell, from germany.
I will get the powerpax unit and compare with the LDD, they're both so cheap.
Many thanks, I will post pics once built.

LDD can be dimmed via a 5V PWM signal if you want.. or just leave it open if unused per the datasheet..
powerpax just seems to be a meanwell copy or private label component
