How to terminate a bus ?

I have a bus, with say 10 tri-state drivers attached to it. Only one of them is active at one time.

I need to know if I need to terminate this bus at both ends? You can imagine the bus is a horizontal wire with taps at various points.

If both ends float, there will be reflections. If one end is terminated, I assume the other end will reflect.

So must I terminate both ends of this bus?

Thank you!

What I want to know is if I need to put term. resistors at both ends.

If you imagine a floating end, a signal of 5V will reflect as 10V from the open end into the rest of the bus, and drive my receiver into 10.

If my receiver was previously parallel terminated,it would first see 5V, and then the 10V wave arrives and it goes to 10V.

So if I terminate both ends, then both ends will rise and stay at 5V.

I need confirmation of this

hi ADD,
If you could be more specific with your query, it makes it more possible to help you.
What are you not sure about.?
