How to safely run 200 DC volt wire in car for volt gauge?

I have a hybrid car with a custom 200 volt pack in the trunk.

I want to run a volt gauge to the front of the car. I need to run a wire with 200 volts, the amp draw will only be for sensing the voltage a few MA at most.

If I use a 50ma fuse on both the positive and negative of the 200 volt wire run, can I still die from getting shocked?

Is there a safe way to run a 200 volt wire like this or should I not do it?

Yes, 50mA could do you some serious harm.
You could fit a potential divider at the battery to reduce the voltage to say, 20V, and then bring the 20V wire up to the voltmeter.

Since the current draw of the volt meter will be so low, like 1ma, is it possible I use a 100,000 resistor to limit any current draw but I would still be able to sense the voltage close to 99% at the end of the line?
