How to power a 6 pin LED Strip

I am trying to power a 6 LED strip. The markings are C,R,G,B,F and vcc. Will the colors get voltage from the positive lead? What is the F for and why do some LED strips have male and female ends?

And the male/female connectors are usually so the LED strips can just be connected one after another.
