Coffee coffee in my veins
Stimulate this writer's brains
Course right through my ev'ry artery
Make my verse more terse and smartery
By the teacup, by the mug
Inspiration by the jug
Is it madness, do I sorta
Feel a throb in my aorta?
No, 'tis nothing, just a twinge
Time to start another binge.

Now you know.

Is that your creation? I like it.

My only effort at poetry was a limerick about a co-worker who seduced the boss, and then filed a sexual harassment suit.

There was a young girl, quite pale,
Who laughed and told a tall tale.
In a position prestigious,
She soon turned litigious,
And threatened her employers with jail.

Not in the class with your haiku, but it got a few laughs in the office.

Not too many engineering poets. I had a professor who decided to take up sing-writing after he retired at 70. Some pretty funny political stuff came out of his pen. Unfortunately, he didn't have much of a voice and he was not good with his keyboard so nothing ever became of it other than his own amusement - and amusement was his only goal.

Keep it up. The wee hours are my best hours for unusual inspiration.

In a previous thread I mentioned that I didn't like poetry that much... but man, these few lines of your owun creation have really struck a chord with me... *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap*
I'm discovering that I do like some types of poetry, as long as they have a clever sense of humor.
Cheers!

I didn't drink coffee until I started teaching, 9 years ago. And even now, I'll not have any after my 10:00 am break. I do drink a few Sundrops (high caffeine soft drink) a day..

I wonder... but I doubt caffeine alone supplements everything that coffee has to give. There must be other vitamins or antioxidants involved.

I just drink the coffee to get myself in gear. I tried the Sundrop early in the am, but it just wasn't the same. You may be on to something
