How does an induction motor pull the rotor with the rotating magnetic field?

How does the rotating magnetic field of the stator of an induction motor interact with the rotor to pull it along? How to the electromagnetic forces interact with each other to produce the mechanical torque on the rotor? I'm not interested in slip or anything extraneous. I've included some pictures below to help show where/what I'm confused with.

There are reference books and text books that explain induction motor operation in extreme detail. And these have been published and available for many years. So this is not the best place to ask for an explanation .

The Left hand is for motors the Right hand is for Generating. Also the wires on the rotor are twisted and go through several fields of magnetic fields.
