I am making a high frequency induction heater using the schematic I found online.

I was able to make the induction heater work and I measured the frequency to be about 5 MHz. The only problem is that the input current is really low (about 1 A), even when I apply 40 V voltage. Since the power is so low, I can only get the metal warm instead of glowing red. Does any one have any idea why my current input is so low? How can I modify my circuit to achieve high power?

Your coil - not pictured? - may have a fairly high impedance at 5MHz. Shortening all your wire leads might help also.

I will try to shorten my wire leads to see if it will increase the current. For the coil part, i am using the same number of turns and cross-section area, so the impedance should be similar to the one online.
