Hi, just found this thread which was the only thread or info relating to repair of my Ecoair DD3 on the internet!, i purchased the unit around 5 years ago, my problem is that the unit has stopped collecting water which I gathered was due to the heater stopping working. After dismantling, I tested the thermal fuse which is clamped to the heater housing in a plastic sleeve together with a thermistor. The thermal fuse is directly in line with the incoming mains cord, both components were fine, however I then realised there was a thermal cutout - a seki ST 22 hidden under a grommit..secured by a screw (see photo) which is in line with the neutral feed for the heater. This read open circuit so is hopefully where the fault lies, I have a spare arriving in two days time so will update. I suspect the device has given out due to the mains cord being unplugged before the heater has cooled down, hopefully this is helpful and thanks to others for originally posting as it gave me plenty of clues!

 

Mine is around 5 years old, so could be common failure point.

I have slightly different components to the ones mentioned earlier; a thermal cutout (Seki ST-22 L4 120c) and a thermal fuse (microtemp ZCGBXQ G5A01 Tf 144c).

Thought it might be the thermal cutout, so took it out the metal bracket holding it against the metalwork. Still tripped after 5 mins though.

This leads me to think either it is genuinely overheating, or it is something else like the humidistat which I could not find. I did notice the desiccant flywheel had several brown lines on the outer edge - possible burn marks?

Like you, I needed a dehumidifier ASAP, so ordered a new one (compressor type this time)

Hi, not sure if this thread is still active ?. My problem with this de- humidifier is the heater is not working. All components function ok but the humidifier blows out cold air and no water collected in the container. When l say not working l can only assume this is related to a component cutting off the heater but the humidifier runs continuously. I have checked both the thermal fuses , one on the casing and one underneath the heater secured by a plate and screw by a simple continuity test , the logic being either or both would have blown if overheated they seem OK. I understand the function of the thermistor and wonder if this is faulty ie open circuit which would mimic low temperature and shut of the heater. My problem really is how to test the heater. Is the heater not working or is the fuses/thermistor ( or something else ) causing the malfunction. Due to the timeframe l doubt if l will get feedback but it is so frustrating when you feel so close to solving this issue . Cheers .
