Have come by a Motorun 2HP static converter but the start and run caps had been removed.
I would like to refurb this and use for my lathe.
I have put in 20uf run and 40uf start but lathe won't turn just hums
I have another static converter with a different circuit but that uses similar 20uf/40uf and runs quite well.
Any help gratefully accepted.

 

What are the voltage and current requirements of the lathe motor?? Why do you require a "static converter??
My first guess, based on the missing capacitors, is that some other portion of the "static converter" has failed, and so the capacitors that were OK were removed and the rest was scrapped.

Why do you need a static converter, anyway??
Photos of some hardware give us no clues at all.
