Good day guys! I really need your help. I'm making a project and it's a brake failure indicator system wherein the system can measure the thickness of the brake pads of trucks whether it's worn out or not. If the brake pads are already worn out, the system will give an alarm using buzzer. I'm going to use arduino for my system but I'm wondering which sensor should I use to measure the thickness of the brake pads. I want the measurements to be accurate and the sensor to be easily available in the market. Please help me guys. I'm also accepting suggestions for my project. Hope you notice me. TIA

I believe this was done 40 years ago by embedding open ended copper wires in the brake pads. When the pad wears down, that exposes the wires to the steel on the drums or rotors and creates a short circuit that drops a relay or transistor and ultimately gives an indication of a hazardous condition. This arrangement is also fail safe.

If you buy the pads with the connectors built in (Bremco), then you can just use a simple light or buzzer to indicate , these pads make contact with the metal disc to earth when worn. Search for pads that fit your vehicle.
