 I have a Sinclair (electric) motor which I believe Sinclair used either on his small car or bike. I bought 2 of these in an engineering exhibition in England. Actually the motor also works on a 12V car battery. I want to use one of these to power a lathe. All the adverts I have seen seem to be for low duty transformers.

I have an idea I this may be possible because I saw an old photo of such a set-up from a friend, now deceased, and therefore I have to seek the answer elsewhere.

What should I look for and where?

Also would obviously help to know the data for 24V DC operation.

In any case you readily can buy mains operated switch-mode 24V DC supplies - say at 240 Watt (10Amps @ 24V) rating. Unfortunately they aren't cheap - as I found out.

Depending on your country of residence you may be able to obtain them at a better price than I was able.
