Has anyone noticed issues with Meanwell RSP series power supplies over the past couple of years.

We have used the same 3 RSP models of Meanwell power supplies for the past 10 years. Starting in 2022 we started to see issues that we had not seen before. The predominant issue was the units intermittently not powering up or not powering at all right out of the box. Other issues included noisy components, or very early unit failure.

I noticed a few posts from 2022 asking similar questions about the intermittent power up issue and wanted to see what the final fix was if any. I also wanted to see if anyone else has similar experience.

More than a year after dealing with the issue, Meanwell notified us that the problems are a "software" issue and requested we recover and send back the more than 600 that we received. It does not make sense to me that these are software issues.

It's well known many were defective. I'm sure that Meanwell (or one of their even cheaper Chinese clones), meant well when they sold them.

Junk products are being dumped on the market.

Thanks, I appreciate the information. This is what we expected to hear. I hope we hear from others as well with specifics as we gather evidence in this matter. Anyone that does not what to post publicly can email me:

I would also say it's relative. Meanwell (the real OEM) is far from the worst for quality.

Meanwell had a over-temp shutdown failure but was still running when restarted.

A off-brand Chinese PS with two blown NTC 'surge' protection devices. It might work again for a while once replaced with a higher/proper spec'd NTC.

The 'real' Meanwell looks to be a lot better built and designed.

Hi, my friend.
We have a problem with the RSP series. starting in 2022 we started to see issues that we had not seen before from 2019, that we use Meanwell power supply. It is noteworthy that we use SE series and MDR, too. We have had problems in the RSP-750-24 series. We used them by different product dates (such as 2014, 2015, 2021, 2022). They failed during using or sometimes in the starting state when the device turned on. and then they burned out the mosfets as shown in attached photos. Of course, sometimes they burn out the input section diode as you can see. If possible, please share your notes, suggestions or experience. If you have any question, please feel free. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Our company too has had issues with the RSP series. Notably with the RSP-1000-24, RSP-1000-48 and to a lesser extent RSP-2000-48.

I want to reach out to u/Resa-HS and u/jeromyk2860.

I can be emailed: clg <at> procutusa <dot> com as I'm interested in what steps were taken in both of your cases.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. We are now entering the legal process against Meanwell and the supplier as we pointed out the issues early and were told that they were isolated unit issues. They waited 10 months to tell us that there was actually a problem that would come and go with the units and requested that we send back. Unfortunately for us that these are now in many of our products that we have shipped. We believe 3 things occurred during this time period. They were passing Chinese made units as Tiawan produced units to skirt favored trade status, they were using sub-par and unlisted parts, the suppliers where part of the scam. We have also recently found out that Meanwell is claiming functions and features on their sheets as UL approved when in fact, they were not UL tested. I would be interested in knowing who your supplier was. Please reach out to me. <e-mail removed>.
